Are you interested in an internship at Gartner and wondering what a typical day might look like? We asked some of our interns to give us the inside scoop. Read on to hear what they had to say.
“My mornings usually involve diving deep into research - exploring trends and synthesizing insights. Afternoons are filled with collaborations like mentorship conversations that stretch my thinking. Along the way, there's always time carved out for learning through Gartner's rich knowledge base. No two days are alike and that's the beauty of it.” - Nandita Aggarwal, Research Intern, India
"Day-to-day, I've developed a brilliant routine which absolutely works in my best interests. Starting off strong with a coffee, standup meetings, and researching the best possible solution to the problem at hand. After determining the best possible solution, I go about implementing it while consulting with my peers along the way in order to assure a logical and mutually understood solution. Overall, every day follows a similar formula but always contains some variation which massively improves morale.” - Cole M., IT Intern, North America
“A typical day as a Gartner intern involves mapping out my schedule hour by hour and filling the time between team meetings with tasks that support my team, such as preparing PACTs, sending emails to prospects and talents, and, my personal favorite, shadowing calls. I love that I can listen to anyone’s call at any time, evaluate which approaches fit my sales style and personality, and learn from them.” - Alison Z., Sales Intern, North America
“As a Client Success Intern, I currently start with time blocked off to work on my offboarding presentation. Depending on the day, I’ll have one-on-one calls with my manager or mentor to go over various learning principles. On top of this, I shadow Review and Planning (R&P), Client Onboarding (OB), and Insights Platform Walkthrough (IPW) client calls from various CSX’s. Additionally, I shadow and practice “pre-call planning”, sending call agendas and follow-ups, and exercise call note taking. A current task I’m tackling is producing ‘hard to reach’ (HTR) client outreach emails by utilizing Salesforce. As much as possible, I schedule networking calls to gain advice from individuals across the company. This is one of my favorite times blocked on my calendar, as everyone here is so eager to pour into me!” - Emma F., Client Success Intern, North America
“I begin by catching up on emails and Teams messages, then usually have a check-in meeting with my manager. From there, I dive into my project, which often involves conducting research on topics related to strategic and functional management in HR. Around noon, I grab lunch with other interns, which is a highlight of my day! In the afternoon, I usually have a few more meetings and wrap up my research at a good stopping point to pick up the next day. Everyday is different, but it’s always full of learning, collaboration and growth!” - Tennessee D., Research Intern, North America
