How Gartner Associates Hit Winners Circle Early in their Careers

In sales, recognition isn’t just about rewards. It’s about knowing your hard work is seen, valued, and celebrated. At Gartner, one way that recognition comes is in the form of Winners Circle, our annual incentive trip for high-performing sales associates.

But here’s the real story: It’s not just about the destination. It’s about what it takes to get there and what it says about you.

What is Winners Circle?

Winners Circle honors sales professionals who exceed expectations by doing the right things for their clients and prospects. Each year, associates qualify based on clear, performance-driven criteria. Unlike many organizations, Gartner doesn't have a cap on the number of people who can qualify. If you hit the mark, you earn it. If you hit the mark, you earn it. You own your achievement. It’s not about being stacked against your peers; it’s about delivering results.

It’s a milestone that reflects discipline, drive, and a commitment to delivering value to clients and prospects.

Early Achievers: Associates Who Hit Winners Circle Early in their Careers

One thing that sets Gartner apart is that a meaningful percentage of our sales team qualifies each year, not just a select few. This creates a culture where high performance is not only encouraged, but achievable and repeatable, even for those just starting out.

Here are three associates who reached Winners Circle early in their Gartner journeys:

Sofia R.: Leveraging Teamwork for Accelerated Success

Sofia joined Gartner straight out of university and has earned Winners Circle every year since, including her first. She shares that she was able to achieve this by “being intentional about leveraging the peers around me. I actively sought out coaching from tenured top performers. This allowed me to accelerate my learning curve significantly rather than figuring everything out on my own.”

Her advice for new sales professionals is to “be ready to invest in your development from day one. Sales at Gartner will build foundational skills that translate to any career—communication, resilience, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence and solve problems under pressure. These are invaluable regardless of where your career ultimately takes you.”

She also says, “Don't let fear of the unknown hold you back. Early in your career, you have the most permission to experiment and learn.”

Magnus H.: Boldness Opens Doors

Magnus achieved Winners Circle, and the top honor of Eagle, in just his second year as an Account Executive in London. He was the first in his division to do so. “Deals rarely happen by themselves; you have to take initiative by demonstrating value and driving urgency into a close,” he explains. His bold approach not only led to consistent success but also a promotion to Large Enterprise account management in Dubai.

His advice is to only pursue sales if you have an inner drive to win. He shares, “If you have strong communication skills, competitiveness, and resilience, you can have a great career.”

Courtney L.: Resilience and Continuous Learning

Courtney has earned Winners Circle every year since joining Gartner in July 2022. She credits her success to resilience, teamwork, and a passion for continuous learning and improvement. Gartner’s sales training, collaborative environment, and motivated colleagues have helped her thrive.

Her advice is to “be ready to learn, never give up, and always accept feedback from your peers. Just because a buyer said no to you once, certainly does not mean they will say no to you again.”

Built for Success From Day One

At Gartner, high performance isn’t left to chance. From your first day, you’ll have access to world-class training, ongoing coaching, and tools that empower you to succeed. Whether you’re new to sales or a seasoned pro, the support system is designed to help you grow, perform, and reach milestones like Winners Circle.

As Sofia, Magnus, and Courtney show, Winners Circle isn’t just for seasoned veterans. It’s attainable for those willing to learn, apply, and excel in the Gartner best practices. The real reward isn’t the trip—it’s the recognition, career momentum, and the opportunity to connect with peers and leaders who are shaping the future of our business.
