At Gartner, our ERGs are open to all associates and enable associate success by supporting development, recognizing life stages, inspiring associates through storytelling and driving engagement through a sense of belonging.
In February, we celebrate U.S. Black History Month at Gartner, taking time to recognize the achievements, culture, and contributions of the Black community, while also reaffirming our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment. By bringing together individuals from different backgrounds and experiences, we continue to grow as an organization, innovate for our clients, and uplift the communities we serve.
In honor of U.S. Black History Month, we asked some of our associates to share how Gartner and the Black Employee Network (BEN) have helped them develop their career. BEN, which is open to all associates, is an Employee Resource Group dedicated to fostering a supportive environment that promotes the professional growth, cultural understanding, and personal development of Black associates and their colleagues globally. Read on to hear what our associates had to say:
“Community is central to BEN’s mission. To foster this sense of community, BEN hosts networking events and celebrations where all associates can gather, connect, share experiences and build relationships. Our team leverages Gartner’s hybrid working environment to come together both in-person and virtually for BEN events throughout the year.” Eriene I., Account Executive
“The Black Employee Network, open to all associates, offers mentorship, professional development workshops, and resources that help our members learn new skills that support their career growth. At BEN, we’re all about equipping associates with the tools and support they need to thrive at Gartner.” Keyia B., Senior Principal
Throughout February, Gartner is hosting a series of events open to all associates, each designed to highlight the history and significance of U.S. Black History Month while celebrating the power of community. These activities aim to inspire our associates while fostering connection, support, and professional development. The month will kick off with an open discussion to provide a space for associates to share personal stories, learn from one another, and discuss ways to foster authenticity and belonging at work. This conversation will focus on the strength we find in community and how coming together empowers everyone to bring their whole selves to work.
Associates are also invited to participate in an AI, community, and career workshop featuring Stephanie Shabazz, a TEDx speaker and transformational expert. Stephanie will share insights on AI and tech innovation, and highlight how the power of community can help us embrace change, develop as leaders, and empower professionals to thrive together.
There will be no shortage of ways for all Gartner associates to get involved, learn more and celebrate the contributions from members of the Black community throughout history in observance of U.S. Black History Month.
