About this role:

The Network Engineer will develop and maintain functional and secure networks at Gartner’s Global Conferences. This position provides support for the company infrastructure networks at our Global Conferences and must ensure that all network services meet established service levels for coverage, reliability, and speed throughout multiple venues. They will also support all network inter-connecting infrastructure devices, while maintaining proper documentation such as site surveys for all sites.

In addition, the Network Engineer will work onsite in the Fort Myers lab to prepare shipments for upcoming conferences and accept shipments returning from completed conferences. Responsibilities include using tools like SolarWinds to clean switch configurations from previous conferences, bringing switches online when they return, and ensuring all equipment is ready for deployment.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices; automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
  • Monitor network performance and integrity; resolve issues escalated by support tiers by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
  • Participate in design, build, and test activities related to new Wi-Fi deployments, network upgrades, and technology/platform evaluations
  • Work closely with peers and vendors on overall network technical design documents and implementation; suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability
  • Work with the security organization to assess exposure, identify mitigation plans, and ensure compliance with all relevant security configuration standards
  • Maintain and access firmware releases and provide input to enterprise tracking, performance enhancements to Catalyst and WLC versions, and documentation
  • Generate reports using (Meraki Scripts and Palo Alto)
  • Prepare and process shipments in the Fort Myers lab for upcoming conferences and accept/bring online equipment returning from events
  • Use tools like SolarWinds to clean switch configurations and ensure readiness for future deployments
  • Available to attend flagship Symposiums and Summit Events globally and remotely support other events and onsite engineering teams globally

What you’ll need:

  • 2-4 years of working knowledge and experience with CISCO Routing and Switching Platforms (IOS, IOS-XE)
  • 2-4 years of working experience with enterprise wireless (preferred: Cisco, Meraki)
  • Strong experience with Wireless LAN Controllers (preferred: Cisco)
  • Strong experience with deployment of Access Points (APs; indoor and outdoor)
  • Configuration, troubleshooting, and support of DNS, DHCP
  • Deep understanding of WLAN technologies, network management, and security, including 802.11 g/n/ac standards and industry best practices
  • Experience implementing high-density Wi-Fi solutions
  • Fundamental knowledge of security protocols and authentication (WPA2, EAP-TLS, 802.1x, AAA) and hands-on experience with RADIUS infrastructure, exposure to ISE
  • Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and site-survey tools including Hamina, Orb, and Wireshark
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, frequently changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across multiple teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Travel to our conference events will be required (45%+)

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 72,000 USD - 100,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
