About the Role:
The DEX Automation & Engineering Analyst is a hands-on engineer and analyst responsible for building data pipelines, automations, integrations, and insights that turn Digital Workplace experience data into action.
This role helps Gartner IT move from reactive support to proactive issue prevention by identifying friction points, automating repeatable work, enabling remediation, and supporting communication campaigns that improve employee behavior and technology outcomes.
This role requires a strong analytical mindset, the ability to work with complex datasets, and the ability to boil technical data down into simple, actionable stories that help teams understand what is happening, why it matters, and what should be done next.
What You’ll Do:
Data & Analytics Engineering

Build and maintain DEX data pipelines using Nexthink, NQL, Microsoft Intune telemetry, and automation outputs.

Clean, enrich, normalize, and validate datasets for downstream consumption by dashboards, data lakes, automation engines, and Digital Workplace teams.

Perform deep analysis to identify: Patterns, Anomalies, Repeat issues, Employee friction points, Automation opportunities & Campaign opportunities

Create reusable datasets, queries, dashboards, and summaries that support operational and strategic decision-making.

Help ensure data quality, consistency, and documentation across DEX datasets and reporting outputs.
Automation Development
-
Develop, maintain, and improve Python and PowerShell-based automations.

Support integrations between Nexthink, Intune, automation outputs, and other enterprise systems.
-
Build automations that reduce manual effort, improve endpoint health, and prevent recurring help desk tickets.

Ensure automations include: Logging, Validation, Error handling, Measurement & Rollback considerations

Partner with senior engineers and stakeholders to test, release, and improve automation workflows.

Document automation logic, operational procedures, and support handoff requirements.
Insight Generation & Storytelling

Convert complex analytical findings into clear narratives, simple visuals or summaries, Actionable recommendations & Prioritized next steps

Help answer key operational questions like what issue is occurring, how widespread is the issue, which employees or devices are impacted, what is the likely cause, what action should Gartner take and how will success be measured?

Support the design and execution of automation communication campaigns that influence employee behavior and reduce friction.

Analyze campaign results and employee response data to determine whether the intended behavior or outcome was achieved.

Partner with Digital Workplace teams to validate insights, refine hypotheses, and iterate based on results.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with Digital Workplace, Service Operations, and engineering stakeholders to understand business needs and technical constraints.

Support the intake and prioritization of DEX use cases, automation candidates, and reporting requests.

Continuously monitor experience metrics to proactively identify emerging issues.

Stay current with DEX, endpoint management, automation, analytics, and AI-assisted engineering practices.

Use AI-driven tools where appropriate to assist with scripting, diagnostics, hypothesis generation, documentation, and resolution drafting.
What you’ll need:

4+ years of experience in software engineering, automation engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, or a related technical role.
Must-have:
-
Strong hands-on experience with Python and PowerShell.
-
Experience working with analytical query languages, with NQL strongly preferred.

Experience with Nexthink, NQL, or similar Digital Experience tools.

Experience analyzing complex datasets and turning findings into clear recommendations.
-
Exposure to Digital Workplace, endpoint management, DEX telemetry, Intune, or similar enterprise technology data.
Nice-to-have:
-
Experience working with Microsoft Intune, endpoint management data, or remediation workflows.

Familiarity with data platforms, data lakes, Splunk, PowerBI, Kusto, Snowflake, or similar reporting and analytics tools.

Experience supporting automation initiatives that reduce service desk volume or manual operational work.

Interest or experience in behavioral analytics, communication campaigns, or experience design.

Familiarity with ITIL Change Management or enterprise operational processes.
