The Specialist, Conference Strategy will support the Conferences Strategy & Development team by supporting the exploration, solutioning, and implementation of strategic initiatives.  This role offers high visibility and impact by working closely with senior leaders on critical projects. About the team:

The Specialist, Conference Strategy role is part of the Strategy and Development team. This team partners across all functions, including sales (inside and field), marketing, product, operations, and client success, as well as select teams within broader Gartner. By fostering cross-functional collaboration, the team ensures that strategic initiatives are effectively implemented and aligned with our long-term goals.

  • Growth strategy:  Supporting key strategic growth initiatives prioritized by the Conferences Global Leadership Team (GLT). Representative project: Assisting in the introduction of small engagement-focused events to build a pipeline for future conference launches.

  • Operational strategy:  Aiding in problem-solving operational priorities required to scale the business with cross-functional leaders. Representative project: Collaborating with marketing, attendee sales, and data analytics to accelerate the ability to drive net-new conference attendees.

  • Inorganic growth planning and execution:  Contributing to the definition and operationalization of the 5-year roadmap for new conference launches (e.g., new business roles, geographic expansion) in partnership with Conferences and Gartner-wide stakeholders.

  • Strategic Insights:  Analyzing competitive landscape and market/macroeconomic trends to inform medium/long-term growth strategy. Representative project: Researching the impact and potential applications for metaverse and augmented reality in a live events setting.

What you will do:

  • Strategic Problem Solving:  Support high-priority growth and operational strategy projects, utilizing our problem-solving platform: Key Initiative Meetings (KIMs). Conduct research, analyze data, and apply strategic frameworks to develop actionable recommendations.

  • Implementation and Project Management:   Assist in executing strategic projects alongside Senior Conferences leaders. Manage timelines, coordinate cross-functional teams, and ensure project goals are met. Leverage best practices to drive success and deliver measurable outcomes.

  • Learning and Development:  Actively seek opportunities to learn and develop new skills to become a utility player across the business. Embrace a growth mindset and continuously seek feedback to improve and develop your skills and leadership traits.

  • Travel:  Ability to travel up to 10-15% of the time to support project implementation and client engagement activities.


What we’re looking for:

  • Experience:  1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in a strategy, consulting, or related role.

  • Data-driven capability: Proven data literacy and data focused skills utilizing pivot tables, charting/graphs, VLOOKUPs, basic understanding of math and calculations. Ability to hypothesize, investigate, and leverage data to determine solutions and reinforce recommendations based on findings.

  • Problem-solving capability:  Proven ability to solve complex problems creatively and use data to tell a compelling story. Comfortable building out PowerPoint slides and presenting to leadership.

  • Purposeful Communication:  Excellent and structured verbal and written communicator with effective presentation and platform skills.

  • Drive / Self-sufficiency:  Demonstrated ability to own a problem and drive from problem statement to solution in a self-sufficient capacity, even in a matrixed environment.

  • Processing speed:  Operates with a sense of urgency and can excel in an execution-focused environment within the dynamic, fast-paced world of live conferences and events.

  • Executive presence:  Ability to effectively engage, lead, and influence senior Gartner executives. Comfortability presenting

  • Passion:  Intellectually curious with a hunger to proactively and independently identify opportunities to drive impact for the business.

  • Strong core values:  Demonstrates integrity, collaboration, a no-limits mindset, objectivity, and consistent results using global best practices.

  • Education:  Bachelor's degree highly preferred

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 56,000 USD - 77,280 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
