Associate Implementation Manager


About this role:  

As an Associate Implementation Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in shaping and delivering real value assisting our clients in successfully implementing their technology that are crucial in supporting their IT strategies. You will be a part of a team that will execute projects using technology to enable business outcomes.  

What you’ll do:  

  • Work on a wide range of projects directed by a Gartner Engagement Manager (Sr Project Manager) 

  • Partner and collaborate with the Gartner Engagement Team, Client Team and their Vendor(s) to effectively manage the project per the project charter, project management and schedule, executing on stakeholder engagement strategies and tactical action plans 

  • Develop knowledge of the client and client’s business processes, maintaining a thorough understanding of the client environment

  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the project, goals and objectives and expected outcomes

  • Work side by side with vendor project manager(s), building trust, partnership and collaboration to ensure vendor produces high quality deliverables

  • Understand contracted statement of work and ensure vendor delivers per the statement of work

  • Manage and attend project meetings, including scheduling meetings, working with team to develop and provide the agenda, and documenting meeting minutes and action items. 

  • Prepare and maintain project management artifacts, documentation and related work products across the project lifecycle.

  • Leverage project management best practices, tools, templates, and standards, resulting in projects being on time, on budget and on target to deliver the anticipated business value  Track vendor project deliverables and Project Team artifacts to ensure they are completed on time and meet quality standards. 

  • Create and manage tracking and reporting tools to monitor project controls and key performance indicators

  • Ensure the project management plan, schedule and change management processes are followed

  • Monitor vendor contract compliance, adherence to proposed/contracted approaches, methodology and deliverable expectations are met

  • Identify and escalate project issues and risks, documenting and managing remediation actions and status

  • Manage the project governance structure, ensuring effective and timely representation of issues, decisions and status with stakeholders at all levels of the project organization

  • Manage ongoing interaction and communication with internal stakeholders  

  • Responsible as the “go to person” for all related questions and issues related to the management of the project, the scope of the project and the contractual scope with the vendor(s)

  • Managing actions in alignment with the Gartner team governance and communications plans and with respect to Team roles and responsibilities

  • Function with a practical degree of independence, focused on project management tasks, with guidance as needed


What you’ll need:  

  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience managing projects (technology, organization, and processes) 

  • Able to create and follow processes and to ensure standards are consistent and effective 

  • Effective communication skills to be an effective collaborative team player 

  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgement, take the initiative, take ownership and accountability  

  • Strong organization skills 

  • Ability to develop reports, analyze tradeoffs, and clearly present analysis of project status 

  • Consulting experience in a similar role in a professional services firm or industry experience at a strategic or management level 

  • Flexibility and adaptability; able to change direction quickly and thoughtfully under changing client needs 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree

  • General understanding of the software development life cycle, specifically as it relates COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) software implementations

  • General understanding of the Public Safety and Justice industry is a plus

  • General understanding of Organizational Change Management is a plus

Deeper knowledge of one or more of the following is a plus:  

  • IT organization & governance 

  • Enterprise Architecture 

  • IT/Business Process Outsourcing 

  • Critical Program Management support (QA, risk, audit) 

  • IT performance optimization 

  • MS Office suite of tools (specifically Word, Excel, PPT, Project) and other project management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, etc.) 

  • Software System Modernizations

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 56,000 USD - 77,280 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
