About GDM Business Analytics team:  

Within GDM, the Business Analytics team is a central function essential to GDM’s growth journey. Our mission is to enable business decisions by providing data-driven insights to our stakeholders across functional areas. We are at an exciting juncture in transforming our team to drive higher-level insights in addition to enabling foundational data access to the GDM organization. 

Why you’ll want to come to work:

As head of the Sales Analytics team, you will be responsible for providing actionable insights that enable data driven decision making in the Sales organization. You will work with the Sales leadership team to identify root causes of trends impacting Sales and general business performance. You will support recurring performance reviews and will be responsible for explaining Sales performance to Sales leadership as well as producing executive presentations. In addition, you will support the Vendor Marketing team to help increase the volume and quality of Sales leads through reporting, and also support the Vendor Services team with reporting and analysis to improve operational efficiency. 

You will lead and manage a team of analysts and dashboard development specialists and manage the development and implementation of data products such as Dashboards to support Sales performance. You will work with your team to create the blueprint for Sales information delivery, understanding the status and function of existing data and systems while building new capabilities to increase the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of information. You will be responsible for implementing scalable reporting and data access tools to ensure decentralized access to critical information. 

The specific responsibilities of the position include:

  • Stakeholder Management and Impact:

    • Be the trusted go-to thought leader and analytics partner to the Sales Senior Leadership Team. Support and influence Sales leadership and organization’s business operations and decisioning through developing data products such as Dashboards, strategic insights and analysis.

    • Work with Sales leadership and other stakeholders to analyze underlying drivers and root causes of Sales performance trends; Provide strategic recommendations and actions through developing written and visual presentations (PPT), storytelling with insights.

    • Invest in building collaborative and trusted relationships with stakeholders and partners across functions through active listening, collaborations, gathering feedback and iterating to drive up quality and impact of work.

  • Leadership:

    • Prioritize team's work to focus on highest impact initiatives, constantly aligning with leadership and stakeholders on expectations. 

    • Lead and develop team members’ careers, cultivate an inclusive and trusted environment for team members to be their authentic self and perform at their best.   

    • Be a player-coach and be ready to roll up your sleeves to conduct detailed hands-on analysis (e.g. SQL query, analysis in excel) at times to lead by examples and provide team coverage. 

  • Data Products and Analytics Expertise: 

    • Work with Sales Operations and other Sales functions to identify data and reporting requirements for actionable insights, translate requirements into roadmaps and execution for new developments and rationalization/improvement of existing assets. 

    • Work with Analytics Ops, Data Engineering and Data Product managers to develop deep understanding of data sources, processing methodologies, and improve upstream Sales data stability and accuracy and close gaps in existing data capabilities. 

    • Manage daily production as well as long term maintenance and improvement of the suite of Sales reporting dashboards. 

    • Drive adoption of common reporting data across dashboards and other views of Sales performance to reduce inconsistency of reporting and increase confidence in the data.   

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • BA/BS degree, Masters degree is strongly preferred.

  • Degree in business, economics, statistics, mathematics or another quantitative field is a plus.

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, consulting, data product management, or related roles.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience managing direct reports.

  • Experience delivering data and reporting capabilities to support Sales performance from requirements identification, prioritization to roadmapping through adoption.

  • Experience analyzing complex data and translating into insights and recommendations to the senior leadership team.

  • Experience with project management and central management of complex, multi-functional projects.

  • Experience producing effective written and visual communication for executive audiences including communicating to executive-level audiences through story-telling. 

  • Experience with SQL or similar database scripting languages is a plus.

  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization systems is a plus (Tableau, Power BI).

  • Experience with Sales CRM systems is a plus (Salesforce, SugarCRM).

  • Experience working with cloud-based or traditional relational DB management systems is a plus.
