Associate Legal Counsel, Employment Law

Description

We are looking for a UK qualified employment lawyer to provide practical and solution-oriented legal advice to Gartner’s HR and business teams on employment law matters in the UK and across EMEA. The position will report to the VP of Employment Counsel based in London and be part of a collaborative global employment legal team.

What you’ll do

Support the HR organisation throughout the full life cycle of the employment relationship in navigating and managing risk effectively, including:

  • Advise on day-to-day employment matters including recruiting, grievance and disciplinary issues, misconduct, performance management, anti-harassment and discrimination, sickness absence, dismissals, non-competes and compensation and benefits.

  • Draft and update employee-related templates including employment contracts, settlement agreements, policies and handbooks.

  • Advise the Employee Relations team on investigations related to employee complaints and workplace concerns.

  • Manage litigation and risk across the region in partnership with external counsel.

  • Monitor legal developments relevant to Gartner and its workforce, conduct legal research and assist with knowledge sharing and internal training on HR topics

  • Participate in HR projects including pay reporting, working time management, DEI initiatives and compliance matters.

  • Help to build best practices, precedents and enablement for internal HR team members.

What you’ll need

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 1-3 years post-qualification experience in employment law gained either in private practice or a corporate environment.

  • Exposure to some international project work would be an advantage but not essential.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with legal team members, senior leaders, HR Partners, and other business unit partners.

  • Ability to communicate practical, clear and concise legal advice to a wide variety of internal stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, exercise good judgement and take ownership of issues to their successful conclusion.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, prioritise effectively with excellent time management.

  • Growth mindset and drive for continuous improvement.

  • Excellent written skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent negotiation skills, analytical mindset with exemplary interpersonal skills
