About the role: 

This role sits within the Territory Planning & Analytics (TP&A) team which is at the center of Gartner’s sales and service strategy. We partner with senior leaders across the business to develop, implement and support the optimal territory investment, design and alignment strategy to maximize sales and service productivity. This role will be the strategic partner for Global Services & Delivery group (GS&D) and lead a team of associates to manage the territory enablement and alignment to enhance customer coverage and drive double digit growth through optimization of alignment of territories between Sales and Service.

As a, Director of Strategy & Operations, your role is to lead Territory planning function and team for alignment of territories between Sales and Service via systematization and automation to drive growth for Gartner.  This role will partner with the Service, IT and Sales Tech and Reporting team to ensure business rules, workflows and data are connected across other various systems including Anaplan and Salesforce.com for Service operations and proper insights are driven for the business. Your attention to detail, experience with sales operations/CRM systems, and understanding of sales/service operations will be vital in ensuring reliable and consistent data for analytics, reporting, and decision-making.

What you will do:

  • Lead a team of 3 associates in India to support strategic planning for Territory management systemization and automation efforts across Services.

  • Evaluate and prioritize the existing Territory planning processes and needs across broader GS&D, scope short- and long-term solution set to address current pain points

  • Develop the vision for how we enable our territory strategy through a mix of systems, dashboards, and automation (i.e. operational strategy and roadmap)

  • Be the custodian of territory attributes and business rules in Anaplan to drive structured, data-driven realignment for service organization

  • Drive on-demand analyses to inform decision-making of Gartner’s Services leaders and C-level executives.

  • Create and improve current process, SOPs and share best practices for optimizing territory alignments.

  • Manage the team to drive workflow automations via Python/ other programming languages

  • Establish and share best practices related to creating and optimizing territory alignment.

  • Collaborate with TP&A leadership to support other cross-functional efforts as needed.

  • Act as internal liaison, coordinating with key department partners such as Finance, HR, and senior Sales stakeholders, to streamline operations, resolves issues, and improve communications.

What you will need:

  • 8+ years of experience, ideally with focus on Sales Operations & Strategy, Analytics or Consulting

  • MBA and/or management consulting experience preferred.

  • Experience managing programs with multiple workstreams and various cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Experience in the implementation of systems from a business perspective by working with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to drive operational efficiencies.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and present findings via compelling Microsoft PowerPoints.

  • Strong written and verbal communications.

  • Demonstrated ability to form trust-based relationships with both senior leaders and internal partners.

  • Ability to learn quickly, understand complex business processes and comfortable working with ambiguity
