What we do

The Nordics Professional Development Manager will be responsible for leading Professional Development and Staffing for the Nordics region in partnership with the Regional Leader and as a member of the Regional Leadership Team. Gartner’s Nordic region spans Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark. Additionally, the Manager will work in partnership with the wider EMEA and Global Professional Development function, as well as EMEA HR on Gartner Consulting’s strategic people priorities.

Role Purpose

Nordics Professional Development:

  • Develop one-on-one relationships with Consultants to provide guidance and mentoring on career management. Regularly connect with each Consultant to discuss their career development, goals, objectives, and interests. Make trade-offs between client needs, utilization and individual development needs.

  • Monitor associate’s development and provide counsel on appropriate engagements, skill development, career, and progression.

  • Partner with HR to manage associate evaluation processes, feedback and promotions.

  • Support associates in understanding role profiles and competencies and discuss career path choices as appropriate.

Consultant Staffing:

  • In conjunction with the EMEA PD Team, work with Managing Partners and project leads to understand staffing requirements and oversee the staffing of teams to projects based on an understanding of client, region, and individual needs.

  • Enhance and mature the region’s staffing culture – including coaching teams on best practice staffing density, adherence to the staffing cycle cadence and the apprenticeship mindset in staffing.

  • Leverage staffing to ensure junior associates gain exposure of a variety of engagements (across different industries and practices) and diverse learning experiences.

Nordic Community and Associate Engagement:

  • In partnership with other functions and the business, support associate onboarding, Nordics talent strategy, and counsellor/counselee pairings.

  • Develop content for, and present at, Nordic Town Halls, local training workshops, skill building sessions, wellbeing events and other key regional activities, as required.  

  • Partner with HR and Leadership on advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Partnering with Nordic Leadership:

  • Work closely with the Regional Leader which involves regularly connecting on key people matters and serve as a partner, owning and executing on priority initiatives.

  • As a member of the Regional Leadership Team, be actively involved in leadership meetings, taking on actions which support the advancement of Professional Development and Staffing.

  • Cultivate relationships at all levels across Consulting, Human Resources, Recruiting and members of the Nordic Regional Leadership Team.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is required.

  • A range of 6-8 years professional experience is required, 2 years progressive experience in management required, preferably in a Professional Development role.

  • Swedish language skills, but not mandatory.

  • Ability to work from the Stockholm office regularly, plus travel to other Nordic offices (Oslo, Copenhagen and Helsinki).

  • Extensive experience in presenting and communicating ideas to others

  • Proven experience in managing and developing staff from different organizations and with diversified levels, skills and backgrounds.

  • Strong customer service, meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills necessary.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills.

  • Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.

  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately; ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of, and experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint is required

  • Must be able to work in dynamic environment with challenging deadlines.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal, and team skills.

  • Outstanding project management skills (projects involving internal and external stakeholders) with an ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads.
