We are seeking a Sr. Principal, Research to support the discovery of actionable ideas that will help executives transform their organizations, people, and business outcomes. Our hypothesis-focused research methodologies help our clients spanning every major industry vertical across the globe. This role enables you to explore your intellectual curiosity in a collaborative, team-based environment.  You’ll be offered robust training, support and coaching to achieve career success and advance within the research organization. This role will create research to support software engineering leaders , a high-priority client group for Gartner.

What you will do

  • Develop a deep understanding of how software engineering leaders think and behave to create research deliverables that will be of great practical use to them.

  • Learn and execute Gartner's proven methodology for conducting world-class research that helps identify best practice solutions to many of today's biggest business challenges.

  • Be a key member of the research team and contribute to the entire project lifecycle, from conception to completion.

  • Lead projects through Gartner's proprietary research methodology including hypothesis generation, conducting primary and secondary research, and root cause analysis to identify best-in-class solutions.

  • Create high-impact research deliverables, including but not limited to large research studies, case studies, videos, presentations and webinars, guidebooks, templates, and roundtable discussions.

  • Conduct research interviews with C-level executives and use these interactions to drive research deliverables and inform research colleagues of key insights shaping the landscape.

  • Closely collaborate with peers and senior stakeholders in several countries as a part of a global research team.

What you will need

  • A bachelor’s degree required, and a Master’s/PhD in a social science preferred.

  • 7+ years of experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity to process and understand information quickly, as well as diagnose issues to make actionable recommendations.

  • Experience converting qualitative and quantitative information into clear frameworks, narratives, and visually compelling presentations.

  • Project management experience with the ability to lead, develop and mentor members on the Research team.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating the ability to think critically, while assessing business problems and providing actionable, outcome-based insights

  • Must be a great writer, with experience writing business related deliverables such as white papers, articles, etc..

  • Excellent communicator who can communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Enjoy working independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 92,000 USD - 130,410 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan. Our talent acquisition team will provide the specific opportunity on our bonus or incentive programs to eligible candidates.
