Role Purpose:
Promote awareness and understanding of the Gartner brand to prospects and clients via influential media outlets in the U.S. Canada and Latin America.
Major Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

Lead the Americas PR planning process to develop country specific, but globally aligned, programs that increase Gartner’s share of voice among VIP journalists in target media outlets.

Lead and execute on activities to meet specific objectives outlined in the U.S. PR plan.

Lead objective setting for and manage activities of PR Specialist for the Americas.

Manage PR agency partner in Brazil to meet specific objectives outlined in Conferences PR Plans
-
Identify newsworthy research or event presentations and create proactive media materials including press releases, media pitches, bylined/contributed articles or columns.

Build and maintain relationships with a defined list of top target journalists and editors in the United States.

Achieve media coverage for Gartner in identified target media outlets (online, print, broadcast)

Lead planning, creation and execution of Americas Conferences PR plan for 8 U.S.-based Conferences, including: writing and disseminating press releases & building and maintaining byline articles partnerships with key publications and writing and placing articles in those publications; creating media pitches; updating and communicating PR plans with Conferences stakeholders; managing exhibitor PR requests; disseminating media coverage to key stakeholders.

Work with internal stakeholders including research analysts, marketing, and Conferences to understand their business priorities and how PR can help. Create PR materials to meet those goals, as outlined in PR plan.

Monitor industry news in the U.S. to identify opportunities for Gartner analysts to comment.

Disseminate media coverage to internal stakeholders and report on results.

Promote Gartner PR content via Gartner’s social media channels, when appropriate

Manage some incoming media requests each month for research, data, analysis, and interviews with Gartner analysts.

Complete general PR administrative tasks flawlessly

Building awareness of the Gartner brand among prospects shortens the sales cycle by 21%. PR is the main brand promotion activity undertaken by Gartner.

Increase media coverage and share-of-voice among targeted journalists in the U.S.

Effectively promote Gartner Conferences to drive attendee registration and support requests from Conference exhibitors to support sponsorship renewals.

Increase media coverage of targeted journalists and brand awareness among prospective attendees of events in Brazil

Increase awareness of research and marketing themes, programs and initiatives in order to drive prospect inquiry and registrations on gartner.com.
Relationships: Internal/External:

Journalists/editors at leading business and trade publications (ie: Wall Street Journal, New York Times, CNBC, CIO Dive, CIO.com, Tech Crunch, etc)

Gartner analysts: understand research coverage areas to direct media inquiries and identify newsworthy content for PR.

Key stakeholders in Gartner Conferences and Marketing

Global PR team
Education:
Undergraduate degree in PR, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Media, or related field preferred.
Professional Experience:
5+ years of PR agency or in-house PR experience with responsibility to create, write, pitch and manage campaigns, including measuring and reporting.
Technical/ Professional Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced writing and professional communication skills (critical)
- Maturity to collaborate with and influence others in a complex, matrix organization (critical)
- Knowledge of media landscape in U.S. (essential)
- Experience using social media (desirable)

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 92,000 USD - 130,410 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
