About this role:
Senior Principal Researchers generate actionable business ideas and data-driven insights through our hypothesis-focused research. Senior Principals enjoy exposure to a full array of strategic thought work using statistics and qualitative methods to identify actionable insight for our clients. They work closely with C-level executives to identify and produce research that solves complex business challenges on a global scale.
This position supports Chief Compliance and Ethics officers, with some exposure to the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer roles, focusing on critical issues facing their function, including key compliance risk areas like conflicts of interest and gifts and entertainment, building a strong culture of ethics and integrity, and helping the practice build new support around data and analytics for risk management.
What you will do:
Lead projects through Gartner's proprietary research methodology including hypothesis generation, conducting primary and secondary research, and root cause analysis to identify best-in-class solutions.
Work closely with C-level executives to identify their most pressing issues and produce research that solves complex business problems on a global scale.
Conduct primary research with executives and industry experts as well as lead extensive secondary literature searches and data analysis to elicit the highest quality insights for use in white papers, exclusive client webinars, and highly visible research studies.
Use mixed methods to develop provocative and pragmatic ideas that fundamentally change and improve the way organizations provide service to their customers.
Provide coaching and project support for more junior researchers
Construct quantitative models, surveys, and analysis plans to test hypotheses when necessary
What you will need:
A Bachelor's degree required, and a Master’s/PhD in a social science preferred
7+ years of experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data
Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity in order to process and understand information quickly, as well as diagnose issues to make actionable recommendations.
Experience converting qualitative and quantitative information into clear frameworks, narratives and visually compelling presentations for senior Gartner managers and clients.
Project management experience with the ability to lead, develop and mentor members on the Research team.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 92,000 USD - 130,410 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
