Role Purpose
You’re a writer with an eye for detail and a flair for making business writing engaging and informative. You understand what kind of writing is appropriate for business executives. You have a proven record of changing your approach and style based on the content’s format, and you excel at making complex ideas digestible in a graphical format. At Gartner, you’ll write content using a variety of form factors, with a focus on short form, visual content such as infographics.
What you will do
- Write and create content according to Gartner processes and standards. Tasks include:
- Conceptualizing and writing short form visual content, including infographics
- Gathering content; researching topics noteworthy to our clients; interviewing analysts
- Drafting content; heavily rewriting analysts' work based off of notes, presentations and other materials
- Reworking content into clear, concise language that’s engaging and appropriate for a business audience
- Orchestrating peer reviews and responding to comments
- Checking facts, dates and statistics for accuracy
- Project managing all assignments through to completion
- Coordinating with editors, designers and other stakeholders to ensure the integrity of published documents
- Partner with designers on captivating infographic copy, to maximize the value of their designs.
- Write with the reader in mind; we need originality, substantive simplicity, and consumability.
- Work with research teams or other stakeholders to understand business priorities and create content that meets agreed-upon timelines, including quick-turnaround responses to market news or developments.
- Write a variety of document types for different kinds of client consumption, tailoring the writing style to the relevant audience and innovating for impact.
- Ensure that all assignments follow Gartner’s style and quality standards.
- Share insights and knowledge to inform improvement in policies, standards and processes.
What you will need
- Degree in English, Journalism, Liberal Arts, Communications, or related field.
- Three or more years' writing experience, preferably on fact-based or business content in a busy environment with strict deadlines.
- Experience copywriting for short form, highly visual content like infographics is a plus
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Google Workspace applications (Google Drive/Docs/Sheets/Slides) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Ability to learn and understand new concepts quickly, and to switch between content styles.
- Ability to collaborate on documents with subject matter experts and build relationships with them and other stakeholders.
- Ability to understand and distill meaning from graphics and numerical data.
- Ability to manage simultaneous projects and juggle a diverse workload while meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) style is a plus
