Sr. Manager, SW Engineering


About this role:

As a hands-on technical leader, direct a multi-disciplinary development team to implement significant improvements to core systems and business processes to help fulfill our Data Platform strategy, including architecting and developing a brand new, critical, cloud-based business application

What you’ll do:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage a multidisciplinary development team

  • Develop and implement significant improvements to core systems and business processes in support of the company’s/divisions profit, growth, and customer satisfaction goals.

  • Architect for high application performance, data security and future scalability

  • Lead the review and analysis of business requirements to create technical designs

  • Drive technical design discussions

  • Implement, unit test, Integration test and support software applications and services

  • Participate in code reviews and peer inspections

  • Direct multiple technology based projects and staff in support of IT

  • Responsible for the development of strategic and tactical planning of technology and people resources necessary for successful completion of large scale projects.

  • Direct technical activities to Estimate, Plan, Design, Build, Test, and Deploy solutions into production

  • Provide guidance and feedback to developers, evaluating performance and identifying strengths and areas for development

  • Continuously learn technologies quickly and apply effectively

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in the field of software development.

  • 9 - 12 years experience in web application development

  • Extensive experience in solving complex problems and driving solutions

  • Hands-on Java EE/Spring, React, JavaScript, HTML, JQuery, AJAX, XML, JSON and PL/SQL experience with a relational database is required

  • People management experience is required

  • Experience in building & managing applications on cloud platforms (AWS preferred or Azure)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with other teams

  • A proven track record of leading the design and deployment of large scale solutions.

  • Experience in all phases of a systems development lifecycle

  • Excellent software development and object oriented design fundamentals with a strong background in architecting software applications

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum
