About this role:
As a Contracts Manager in our legal division, you`ll be responsible for reviewing and negotiating Sales (Consulting, Research and Conferences) and Vendor contracts in Japan; this includes interfacing with Gartner’s Consulting and Sales, Legal and Finance, and other organizations to ensure country-level compliance, alignment with internal policies, and other legal requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Support Consulting and Sales associates in commercial and public sector Client negotiations, across all forms of solicitations for Gartner e.g. RFP
- Drafting, preparing, communicating and negotiating exceptions to proposed contract terms within Corporate policies, where applicable, and assisting ancillary information requests related to contractual and business matters
- Reviewing and negotiating procurement and conference operation contracts for Gartner Conferences
- Manage Gartner’s contracts and contractual relationships within Japan
- Understand and communicate contractual requirements to internal stakeholders, including data capture of negotiated clauses
- Work closely with other Consulting and Sales support functions, such as Gartner’s Risk Management, Deal Desk, Order Management, and Deal Hub Teams
- Conduct “issue-specific” and “new hire” training for Consulting/Sales/Conferences and other teams, as applicable. As a member of the worldwide Legal and Compliance Team, help ensure effective communication to corporate legal, ensuring visibility into regional legal and risk matters
- Liaison with local law firms
- Collaborate with the Information Security team and review the client’s information security documents or answer the questionnaires
- Provide advice to privacy related inquiries from associates; assist renewal of privacy related qualification
- Update and maintain contract templates and policies; prepare and update written policies, guidelines, playbooks and procedures in both English and Japanese for the business units and the legal team
- Proofread the English and Japanese translated documents
- Manage implementation of new technology for contract management
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor`s degree (law preferred)
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English language ability
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Detailed knowledge of contract law
- Experience working for a multinational enterprise – ideally within an IT organization.
- Strong ability to influence others
- Excellent MS Office capabilities, including experience in analyzing data (Excel or other data analytics tools)
- Ability to develop and facilitate effective legal related processes and training programs to drive awareness
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Mindset to thrive in a fast-paced environment where there is a constant sense of urgency
- Experience in negotiation involving intellectual property and Privacy/Data Protection
- Proficiency in adapting to new systems and technologies, creating reports, working with data
