About the role:
Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory sector, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.
A Senior Director Analyst in the Tech CEO group will apply their experience and Gartner insight to advise CEOs in Gartner’s technology provider clients on Corporate Strategy and Finance issues.
The role requires a broad understanding of how Tech CEOs think, approach challenges and plan for the future. Experience in managing start-up organizations or managing finances and funding are critical. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of the VC and PE markets, Debt vs Funding decisions, investment criteria, operational finance issues and key performance indicators. Candidates should be capable of speaking with authority on these issues as they relate to Tech CEO decision making.

What you will do:

Create clear business related and actionable advice for Tech CEOs, in areas related to finance and corporate strategy

Financing and funding priorities from seed to late stage
-
Establish budget forecasts and KPIs to meet growth milestones
-
Corporate strategy development and communication
-
All areas of Mergers and Acquisitions and/or Divestitures
-
Market expansion to include new geographic locations, routes to new market and new products
-

Ability to write new syndicated research to meet Tech CEO clients’ needs and to identify the root cause client’s business underperformance.

Aggregate client conversations to establish the priority questions that require advice.

Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice

Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, and client briefings

Provide sales support by speaking to prospective and existing clients by telephone and through face-to-face sales calls.

Develop in-depth analysis to identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward

Create and deliver high value presentation materials on and off stage for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings

Support Research and Sales: Provide sales support serving as voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business

Provide high quality and timely peer reviewed research content
What you will need:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
-
12+ years of experience in a related field or industry
-
Previous experience as a Financial Director or CEO at a small or start up technology provider, additional experience at a multinational technology prover is preferred

Strong analytical skills and familiarity with frameworks and models

Ability to secure funding for an IT start-up

Ability to develop corporate strategies

Experience managing the finances and securing funding for IT Start-ups and mergers and acquisitions.

Demonstrated ability creating financial models

Strong executive presence, with the ability to engage and communicate with C-level clients and investors to build rapport, develop relationships, and establish credibility

Strong organizational skills: with the ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables

Demonstrated research and writing ability

Strong written and verbal proficiency, research, writing, analytical and presentation skills.

Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges

Subject matter expert comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements

Strong business and financial acumen

Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a global team

For this role in those locations, the base salary range for new hires is:California Annualized Base Pay Range: 150,000 USD - 170,000 USD
Colorado Annualized Base Pay Range: 150,000 USD - 170,000 USD
New Jersey Annualized Base Pay Range: 150,000 USD - 170,000 USD
New York Annualized Base Pay Range: 150,000 USD - 170,000 USD
Washington Annualized Base Pay Range: 150,000 USD - 170,000 USD
Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
