About this role

Gartner Researchers support the discovery of actionable business ideas while bringing best practices, and research models to Data & Analytics leaders and their teams across a broad range of world-leading clients. A Director serves as a spearhead for Gartner’s research efforts. They develop and lead research teams through proprietary and secondary research processes, and conduct interviews with executives, academics, and industry experts to unveil cutting-edge best practices for our clients. Directors utilize their exceptional planning and research skills to develop and execute content plans, ensure their data is airtight and present their findings to both internal stakeholders and clients.

What You’ll do

  • Lead and develop a research team through a proprietary research process including hypothesis generation, primary and secondary research, and root cause analysis to identify best-in-class solutions

  • Engage senior executives across industry experts, leading organizations, and academics through multiple channels, including surveys and interviews, to identify critical client challenges, discover best practices, and develop research products around them

  • Collaborate with quantitative researchers to develop such surveys and other tools designed to drive the research process forward

  • Lead extensive secondary literature searches and elicit the highest quality insights for use in white papers, exclusive member webinars, and highly visible research studies

  • Ensure research has airtight economic conclusions, and effectively both understands and challenges client assumptions

  • Develop and execute content product plans, including research topics, webinars, diagnostics, and other deliverables

  • Present research findings to senior management and stakeholders, defend key ideas, and advance insights iteratively based on feedback

  • Directly coach, develop, and motivate members of the Research team

What You’ll Need

  • A Bachelor's degree required, and a Master’s/PhD in a social science preferred

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data

  • Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity to process and understand information quickly, as well as diagnose issues to make actionable recommendations

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to develop business insights aligned with future scaling

  • Experience converting qualitative and quantitative information into clear frameworks, narratives and visually compelling presentations for senior audiences

  • People and project management experience, with the ability to directly lead, develop, and motivate junior members of the Research team

  • Ability to think critically and problem solve

  • Strong writing skills with experience publishing business related deliverables such as white papers, articles, etc. 

  • Excellent communication and relationship management with senior executives and can disseminate complex data through relevant means
