Description

Gartner Digital Markets is looking for a Senior UX Designer to join our growing product team. Gartner Digital Markets is a business unit within Gartner. Our mission is to help small businesses make the right technology choices and find the software tools they need to grow, optimize, and become more effective at what they do.

Our ideal candidate is a designer who can work independently on a distributed team of product managers, front-end engineers, and back-end engineers. You will be the sole designer on this product and have the ability to lead all aspects of design including UI. As such you should be able to prioritize your own design work while advocating for design and user needs. This product is heavy on data analysis so experience with data visualizations, designing user flows around analyzing and taking action on the data, and competitive marketplace analysis will be helpful.

This role is also part of a four person design team that supports several products. As part of the design team you would participate in design meetings, conferences and continuing education sessions, design ops, and design process improvements. Each of us work in different areas of the products but spend a lot of time together collaborating on solving design challenges. This role reports up to a design manager who will help with professional growth.

What you’ll do:

  • Sketch/white board designs, create wireframes, create high fidelity designs with design software component libraries, prototyping, and proactively explore design solutions.

  • Present designs to stakeholders and articulate UX based decisions.

  • Lead design thinking or ideation sessions.

  • Understand concepts of human centered design and customer experience (CX).

  • Help maintain the design system by performing quality assurance checks with Tech tickets as well as proposing updates to existing components.

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative user research and synthesize research findings into design priorities.

  • Use data to develop insights into improvements for user experience and flow.

  • Work with other members of the design team to think through design challenges

  • Present back to Product and Engineering teams about UX findings and design decisions as part of regular knowledge sharing sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping software. Preferably Sketch and InVision.

  • Experience with UX Research, using UX Research findings to guide design, and articulating that research to stakeholders when presenting design decisions. If you don’t have experience running UX Research we will provide training and support to build up that skillset.

  • Ability to work closely with product managers and engineers, writing UX/UI development specifications, and familiarity with agile sprint cycles. Previous experience with JIRA and Confluence is helpful.

  • Ability to work effectively both remotely and asynchronously with team members who might be in different time zones.

  • 6+ years’ of UX, UX/UI, or similar experience

What our Team Offers:

  • Professional development through conferences or similar virtual events, team trainings, room to explore changing or improving design processes, and dedicated work hours for these activities. Most of this is collaborative with the full design team.

  • Mentoring and career development plans to support your growth.

  • Flexible work hours and virtual first work environment or in-person office access if preferred.

Who You Are:

  • Action Oriented - Deliver fast, get great results. We embrace the vision, roadmap to success and the action it takes to make it happen.

  • Intellectually Curious - Seek to learn, love to teach. We’re humble and embrace respectful, radical candor with a mindset of ongoing professional and personal development.

  • Collaborative - One team, shared mission. We welcome feedback and understand the value of working together to accomplish more than what is possible individually.
