About this role:

Gartner is searching for a Senior Principal Researcher to join its Quantitative Innovation (Qi) Practice. The Quantitative Innovation (Qi) Practice provides timely, thought leading, differentiated quantitative insight and advice for all target client roles to enable informed decision making & ultimately business growth. Qi research provides data driven insight, market trends, competitive analysis, buyer behavior and preferences-driven content.  We also enable clients’ professional growth and measurable success through insightful role-based quantitative insight, benchmarks and toolkits.

Senior Principal Researchers possess outstanding collaboration, forecasting, modelling, writing and client interaction skills. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of global analysts that assess the vendor landscape, trends and advise clients that are competing or interested in the Communications Service Provider (CSP) industry. You will primarily support technology and service provider executives through published forecasts and written research, conversations (Inquiry), teleconferences, and client meetings.

What you will do:

  • Create, enhance, and maintain forecast models, as well as identify influencing factors impacting the Communications Service Provider (CSP) technology market

  • Research, analyze and predict CSP market trends based on vendor strategies, buyer demands, key macro-economic trends, influencing factors, and key metrics across industries and geographies

  • Collaborate with Gartner’s subject matter experts to gain validation and agreement of the forecast model output, influencing market factors and assumptions

  • Assess the market opportunity for CSP technologies and services, presenting powerful competitive analysis and customer opportunity assessments

  • Support Research and Sales: Provide sales support serving as voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business

  • Build credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy

  • Identify research process improvements or develop new processes that help the team and Research & Advisory provide excellent service delivery

  • Be client-centric while actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner research and interactions

What you will need:

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high-quality deliverables

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in technology, science or business/economics and/or advanced professional qualification(s) in a related field. Master's Degree in related discipline (or MBA) is an advantage

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Demonstrated analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills, highly numerate with experience in building market sizing and forecasting models

  • Experience organizing qualitative and quantitative information and able to articulate with succinct communication skills complex ideas effectively

  • Ability to work independently, while also being motivated to collaborate across teams and can constructively debate with internal stakeholders.

  • Experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data

  • Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity with a foundational understanding of the CSP industry from both a business and technology perspective
