Director, Conference Product Marketing

Description

 About this role:

Gartner Conferences help IT and business executives and their teams achieve stronger performance on their organizations mission-critical priorities. We are seeking a hands-on Conference Product Marketing Director to develop and execute marketing messages and strategies that amplify the Gartner Conferences brand and increase awareness of, and attendance at, global conferences. This individual will gather a deep understanding of our competitors - what they do today and what they plan to do in the future - as well as our prospective and client conference attendees, including how they make their buying decisions. This position will be responsible for crafting a compelling value proposition based on fact-based insights and then use that knowledge to drive the development of positioning and messaging that empowers our client-facing channels and delivers on commercial conference attendee revenue goals. This individual will collaborate with our content, brand, conference marketing, program management, and sales enablement teams to develop innovative programs that drive demand.  An ability to grasp and present our Gartner conference value proposition in a way that resonates and clearly articulates how we solve our buyers’ problems is essential.

What you’ll do:

  • Market and customer intelligence—be the expert on our buyers, who they are, how they buy and their key buying criteria.

  • Understand the competitive landscape—be an expert on our competition and how they are positioned.

  • Collaborate with program management, conference marketing, brand and marketing communications to develop conference positioning and messaging that resonates with our target buyer personas.

  • Understand and document our buyer’s process, including where they get information, and the who, what, when and why behind the decisions they make. Then drive changes to our sales and marketing processes based on what you learn.

  • Develop a messaging and content plan for Gartner conferences in conjunction with our conferences marketing teams, including key activities and budgets, to support the retention of existing customers and the acquisition of new customers to Gartner conferences.

  • Assess the effectiveness of the TOFU marketing programs on an ongoing basis, and report back to the business on required changes.

  • Understand and support our sales channels and develop TOFU internal tools and external collateral and teach them how and when to use it.

  • Work with brand, SEO, editors, writers, actors, producers, project managers and other team members to produce content.

  • Research and stay up to date on the latest developments in terms of search engine optimization, content trends and consumer behavior.

  • Perform content audits to assess how well existing content is performing and content gap analyses to determine what type of content is missing and what is needed.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field of study

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in B2B product marketing and value message development to executive level audience

  • Experience in outbound / digital marketing and direct responsibility for delivering revenue through marketing and sales channels

  • Proven marketing leader and partner to sales and client-facing stakeholders

  • Knowledge and experience in multi-channel marketing campaign creation, lead management, and pipeline conversion

  • Data-driven and analytical; experience with Google Analytics a plus

  • Great interpersonal, collaborative and oral/written communication skills

  • Experience with fundamental principles of design

  • SEO/SEM, web content creation and content management skills; experience with Adobe Experience Manager a plus

  • Left Brain + Right Brain by nature; understand customer insights, data and analysis and be able to use it to develop compelling messaging, copy and content

A successful candidate will be:

  • Intellectually Curious – Able to understand qualitative and quantitative research, the market landscape, new thought leadership and transpose the concepts into simple, engaging messages. Synthesize competitive information on an ongoing basis to inform marketing strategy.

  • Strong communicator – Must have strong presentation and writing/editing skills. Able to write in an engaging way. Have a content and strategy orientation to marketing.

  • Collaborative - Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness; Ability to build relationships and work well with multiple partners across the Global Marketing Team and with key stakeholders across the business.

  • Self-starter – This individual must be adaptable, persuasive, tenacious, perceptive, and be able to respond appropriately to change. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and work autonomously to manage and prioritize multiple tasks at one time.

  • Detail-oriented – Pays attention to detail, self-QCs, makes a conscious effort to avoid mistakes and understand causes instead of just the effects. It shouldn’t be something that you have to work at.

  • Analytical – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Project manager – Ability to coordinate efforts cross-functionally to achieve positive end results. Excellent project management and execution skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

  • Positive – Approaches work with a positive attitude; views challenges or setbacks as opportunities to learn, improve processes and strengthen working relationships
