Lead Test Engineer - Automation (Selenium,Java,Javscript)

About the Role:

The Lead Test Engineer position is responsible to drive innovation and integration of new technologies into frameworks and activities in the software test architecture to increase the performance and efficiency of the Quality Engineering department. 

What you’ll do:

  • Designing and building Testing Frameworks for

    • UI Functional testing

    • API testing

    • Mobile apps testing

    • Data validation testing

  • Accurately assess level of effort to implement automation improvements and help team to deliver a project on time.

  • Ensure delivery against Quality Engineering department goals and objectives, meeting commitments.

  • Estimate and prioritize work based on ROI and efficient utilization of resources.

  • Provide clear and detailed status, assess and mitigate risks to ensure timely delivery with excellent quality.

  • Drive’s innovation and integration of new technologies into frameworks and activities in the software test architecture to increase the performance and efficiency of the Quality Engineering department.

  • Test performance/load of the system using JMeter

  • Automate CI/CD for the modules owned by the team

  • Prepare metrics to provide test status and effectively communicate issues and potential risks of project schedule to the test lead/manager.

  • Directly supervise Quality Engineers, screening newcomers, continuously monitor performance, and provide feedback from automation perspective.

  • Manage and expand relationships with other QA partners on software systems test and automation team across geographies.

  • Ensure compliance with testing best practices and standards.

  • Check consistency across devices, browsers, and operating systems.

  • Design, review and execute functional testing as per the Spec from various teams(Data science, UX and product) along with an ability to identify opportunities for automation and create scripts in Java using Selenium

What you’ll need:

Must Have Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in software testing, including a minimum of 3 years in Lead role or management position.

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, and maintaining automation framework, infrastructure from the ground and scaling them.

  • Experience with popular automation tools, libraries and frameworks, such as Selenium Webdriver, RestAssured, JUnit/TestNG, Cucumber, Maven, Allure, Report Portal, Appium, Ready API, Squish.

  • Strong Java development skills and knowledge of other programming/scripting languages like JavaScript.

  • Strong in Web/Mobile/API Automation

  • Strong experience in SQL.

  • Deep knowledge of design patterns, best code practises and automation industry trends, as well as Continuous Integration concepts and tools.  

  • Exposure to API testing tools (Ex: Postman, SOAPUI) that require coding skills to create tests

  • Have experience in Estimation, prioritization, and planning/coordination of testing activities in a Scrum environment

  • Experience in using JIRA for defect management and documentation

  • Have hands-on experience in strategizing, automating, and validating products/services that are based on Microservices architecture

  • Proficiency in integrating test suite with tools in the DevOps/CICD pipelines - GIT, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud service platforms is a plus (AWS, Kubernetes, Azure)

  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

  • Driven by continuous improvement

  • BE/BTech/BS, ME/MTech/MS or MCA and no-distance education

Secondary Skills

  • Exposure to Performance testing &, Security testing

  • Exposure to design and apply Artificial Intelligence to automation frameworks

  • Exposure to advanced Java, Javascript, Node.js, Nightwatch.js Framework

  • Exposure to Python
