About this role

This Senior Director, Analyst will provide actionable insights to Gartner technology service provider clients focused on planning, building, and managing data and analytics services in both corporate and cloud environments. This role sits at the intersection of the most impactful data and analytics technologies / trends and the service providers that leverage them to deliver impactful client outcomes. In this role, you will also frame key predictions that characterize the influence of digital and composable business service market trends relative to end client service solution priorities.

The successful candidate will have a vision for how business services will evolve, and what Gartner's clients in this market must do to succeed. We look for practical, operational, and commercial experience and thought leadership in creating, launching, and operating data and analytics services. This includes expertise in planning, development, market introduction and managing the lifecycle of the offering. The ideal candidate will possess strong cross-industry experience and have technology/service provider experience in data and analytics services.

What you’ll do:

As a Gartner analyst you will meet with clients every day: on the phone, in a videoconference, from the stage at a Gartner event or face-to-face during a sales support visit. In all client interactions, analysts help clients solve difficult challenges that lead to better performance. To support these conversations you will research technology, practices and trends and produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply.

  • Conduct research and analysis in specific areas of expertise targeting client’s key initiatives.
  • Deliver high quality actionable advice through a variety of media.
  • Write high quality, clear, actionable, advisory research documents.
  • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas as well as applicable adjacent areas.
  • Respond to client questions, create materials for and deliver to clients in person, via teleconference, video conference or webinar and event presentations.
  • Maintain the Gartner’s industry leadership reputation by responding to press inquiries.
  • Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver outstanding sales support to retain and grow the business.

What You’ll Need

You need to know the data and analytics services market, technologies, trends, product management practices, etc. and be able to see the both the forest and the trees. Top-down and bottom-up integrative thinking and the ability to advise services leaders and practitioners is vital in the success of this role.

  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred
  • 12+ years of practical and leadership experience working in the IT Services Marketplace- and an understanding of the services market landscape, customer demand, and competitive insights for data and analytics, services.
  • Experience as a leader in the Application Services Sector with commercial understanding of Data and Analytics Services (including offering set (Consulting, Implementation/Integration and Managed Services), deal construct, delivery requirements, and insights regarding the pace and change of competition)
  • Knowledge of Product Management and its applicability/adaptability into Services firms.
