What you will do:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory sector, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.

You will work with a collaborative team of highly experienced analysts and advisors to build authoritative research and advice that directly addresses the priorities and challenges of clients aligned to the Investment Services (Wealth and Asset Management) sector including technology providers, consultants, and investors.

This includes:

• Serving as an authority on Investment Services optimization, modernization, and transformation

• Creating both provocative and pragmatic “must have” thought provoking research and advice on best and emerging practices for CIOs, IT and Line of Business (LOB) leaders to support the digital transformation in the Investment Services area of their institution

• Creating both provocative and pragmatic research and advice on best and emerging practices for vendor organizations (mostly product leaders) on the evolution and modernization of IT used at wealth and asset management firms and divisions

• Supporting our sales and client service teams in delivering insight to clients and prospects.

• Presenting on wealth and asset Management research and related thought leadership in one-to-one and one-to-many forums, including client presentations and Gartner events 

• Develop new research and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and requests that accelerate the client's ability to act

• Bring provocative, independent insights to Gartner leaders that can evolve the course of a research agenda

• Create and deliver high value presentation materials on and off stage for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings

• Provide high quality and timely research content peer review

• Build credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy

• Be client-centric while actively seeking to help clients engage regularly and often with Gartner research and interactions

What are we looking for:

Gartner is looking for a Senior Director Analyst to provide research and advisory to CIOs, Line of Business (LOB) and Senior IT leaders in the Wealth & Asset Management industry globally, and to key roles in Vendors selling to Wealth and Asset Mangement Organizations and Divisions. Your experience will include strategic planning and execution of major business and technology initiatives for Wealth & Asset Managers:

• Experience in the Wealth or Asset Management industry. Gartner is looking for expertise in Front or Back Office needs of Wealth and Asset Managers. This includes strategies, workflows and models related to advice delivery, portfolio construction, distribution, customer interaction, and more.
• Familiarity with the technologies that power the investment services industry, such as core accounting systems (Trust Platforms, Brokerage Systems, Managed Account Platforms, Retirement Record Keeping Platforms, etc.), advisor desktop tools (Financial Planning, Portfolio Mangement, CRM, etc.), Client Experience Tools (Client Portals, Mobile Apps, CLM systems, Onboarding Solutions, etc.).

• A background in or understanding of Vendor selection of applications from providers like Envestnet, FIS, InvestCloud, Temenos, Avaloq, Objectway, Broadridge, SEI, FNZ, Morningstar, Salesforce, Bloomberg and others. A knowledge of implementing important technologies such as AI, APIs, cloud, digital platforms, or data management is a plus. 

• Understanding of business model changes such as embedded finance and the increased competitiveness of FinTech’s and non-traditional channels with traditional wealth and asset managers

• Your experience comes with a strong interest in driving innovation across the technology value chain for products and services. 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant field or industry experience at a wealth or asset management firm or division, technology firm that serves this audience or technology analyst firm.
  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills: ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables
  • Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability
  • Strong English language written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions
  • Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex concepts concisely and simply
  • Subject matter expert comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Deep knowledge of the global and competitive landscape within subject area as well as the interplay in that market
  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team
  • Learning agile and adept with navigating highly matrixed environments
