The Managing Vice President, Business Operations & Strategy is a member of the Global Product Management (GPM) leadership team. The role is a critical of the member of the team, supporting the overall mission of transforming Gartner into a platform for insights. GPM is focused on ensuring that Gartner’s clients achieve their most critical priorities. This is done by creating the products and services that our clients need so they can be successful in their roles, achieving this through a deep understanding of our clients’ pain points and goals, leveraging technology to drive innovation by role and across client roles and ensuring that our clients are engaged so that Gartner becomes embedded in their workflows. The MVP will be responsible for providing support across GPM and on cross-BU initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
As a business owner, you will be responsible for initiatives across GPM, represent the EVP in key meetings, and in partnership with the EVP, develop product roadmap resulting in long-term, profitable growth.
Leadership, thought partnership:
- Lead strategic projects from strategy development to iterative execution.
- Oversight for key initiatives across GPM. Organize and support the annual Long-Range Planning (LRP) efforts. Drive outcomes and initiatives, leveraging partners from other BUs.
- Proxy as EVP, GPM in key leadership meetings, while providing leadership and direction on key initiatives.
- Optimize GPM cadence to ensure focus is on the right things, at the right time to support leadership productivity, transparency, and accountability.
- Partner with EVP and Communications Lead to create monthly Operating Committee presentations and follow-up as required.
Business Planning:
- Develop multiyear business roadmap to fulfill mission of transforming Gartner into a platform for insights.
- Develop business performance reviews to track progress, elevate issues and identify future market opportunities.
- Lead and structure the Annual Budgeting Process in partnership with Finance and GPM leadership, inclusive of on-going budget adjustments.
- Conduct ad-hoc strategic and operational analysis as required. Analyze customer, financial and operational reports, and dashboards (data) to identify trends and improvement areas and validate findings for GPM.
- Develop and lead approach to identify early warning signs where break points will exist.
Program Management
- As an outcome of key meetings and as product improvements and innovations happen, develop product enablement approach for Sales, Services, R&A and other BUs as appropriate.
- Partner with Executive Management Team (EMT) to prioritize and organize key improvement and change programs. Ensure timely program updates for regular EMT review and discussion. Strong collaboration with program initiative leaders to maintain progress across all strategic and tactical productivity.
- Partner with EMT leadership to execute necessary analysis, framing, prioritization, work scoping, planning and project management.
- Lead weekly and quarterly leadership meetings, while developing the agenda, facilitating key sessions and driving follow-ups.
- Strong partnership with Communications to develop a comprehensive communication strategy inclusive of creating and curating content for GPM wide Town Hall and Management meetings.
- Contextualize change-related messages, decisions, and actions for GPM associates.
- Close partnership with HRPs on people related initiatives. Support HR Talent Acquisition in maximizing GPM’s investments in its people. Identify opportunities to improve recruiting efficiency and effectiveness in conjunction with corporate initiatives
What you will need:
- 12+ years of combined experience in management consulting, product management, product development, or general management roles; P&L experience preferred
- 7+ years experience leading high performing teams
- Proven track record for new product innovation, including design thinking frameworks, product ideation, and agile development
- Results oriented leader with excellent business vision, strategic thinking with a proven track record of solving complex problems, thinking creatively, and drawing the larger business story out of facts and data.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and cross functional teams, and to inspire rapid adoption of change.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple requests concurrently & consistently deliver results in a timely fashion
- Experience working with senior-level executives; demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling executive-level presentations.
- A bias for action, including balancing tradeoffs, a willingness to roll up their sleeves and do what it takes to get things done
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent organizational, interpersonal, and team skills
- Ability to work independently and not be afraid to be involved in both strategy and operational work.
- Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s degree in an Analytical or Operational field preferred.
