About the Team:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve. They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practices that propel clients’ businesses toward key objectives. A Director publishes these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events.

The successful candidate is an expert in automation, virtualization, and infrastructure-as-code. The candidate will focus on written and customer-facing deliverables aimed at the technical staff who face the challenges of improving on-premises and hybrid infrastructure. Key areas of focus include virtualization automation and hyperconverged infrastructure. The candidate should be able to design and deploy modern compute, storage and network infrastructures that are cloudlike, software-defined, agile, scalable and resilient. They should have experience with the technical engineering challenges of automation in virtualized environments. Experience as a cloud Platform Ops engineer, site reliability engineer (SRE), datacenter infrastructure automation engineer or private cloud engineer is also an advantage.

What you will do:

• Collaboratively write and publish analysis and positions at a regular cadence through evidence-based research

• Create compelling, technical research on private cloud and infrastructure automation topics, aimed at IT practitioners Provide professional representation of Gartner’s brand, research, insights, and analysis to technical teams in Gartner’s client base

• Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions

• Apply personal experience and technical expertise to an array of clients, situations and industries

• Communicate complex concepts concisely and with authority

• Work with Gartner Sales executives to attract, engage and retain Gartner customers.

• Proactively contribute to thought leadership and research communities

What you will need:

• In-depth technical knowledge on hyper converged infrastructure & virtualization technologies, such as VMware and Red Hat

• Strong experience with Infrastructure automation tools such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef or Puppet

• Proven track record working with engineering and operational improvement initiatives related to automation tooling

• Hands-on delivery integrating  private and public cloud projects

• Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data;  applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions

• Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions

• Subject matter expertise comfortable presenting at large and small-scale speaking engagements

• Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders

• Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others in a multicultural global team
