Gartner analysts are industry thought leaders that create must-have research for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves industry clients at local, regional and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, writing and public speaking, a Senior Director produces pragmatic and provocative written research and presentations. Gartner clients use that content and advice to better manage their business. Analysts engage both vendor product leaders and CIOs in both in person and virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner events to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate insights and recommendations.

About the Role:

Gartner is recruiting for a candidate with practical experience in the use of technologies by healthcare providers like hospitals, academic medical centers, health delivery organizations, or regional health authorities to address their most important strategic objectives. The successful candidate will develop a leading industry voice on how IT application vendors and service firms can improve care delivery and patient outcomes and advise healthcare provider CIOs on their critical technology strategies and decisions.

The Senior Director will advise technology firm clients on topics like end user needs, buyer profiles development, competitive intelligence, product roadmaps, key feature areas, go to market strategies, marketing effectiveness, market size forecasting— all through the highly specific lens of the healthcare provider industry. The individual must also be knowledgeable about major technologies and processes common to healthcare providers, emerging issues, and future needs so as to advise provider CIOs. Direct experience working for a combination of a healthcare provider, IT services, technology project management, or technology research advisory firm is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new research that challenges conventional wisdom about the problem being solved and offers compelling, simplified approaches that accelerate each client’s ability to take action

  • Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions

  • Write innovative, thought provoking, documents in collaboration with other analysts

  • Predict how specific markets are developing and help clients in their vendor selection process

  • Help product leaders understand end user needs and seize industry trends

  • Help provider CIOs make effective decisions and deliver critical business value from IT

  • Engage and respond to client inquiries in on-site and virtual meetings, strategic off-sites, and Gartner events

  • Create and deliver high value presentations and other material onstage for small and large groups of clients and/or prospects

  • Provide sales support serving as voice of the to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business

  • Coverage could include topics like enterprise decision support (analytics, business intelligence, artificial intelligence), digital transformation in healthcare, global medical technology, population health, clinical workflow, cloud computing, privacy and security, virtual care/telemedicine, radiology systems, genomics, precision medicine, AI use cases, remote patient monitoring, and health ecosystems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred

  • Significant relevant field or industry experience

  • Great team player with intrinsic motivation to collaborate with peers

  • Demonstrated executive presence to establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality material

  • Strong written and verbal interaction, analytical and presentation skills

  • Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks while drawing and defending conclusions to client challenges

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% (where applicable)
