Senior Director Analyst, Monitoring and Observability with SRE

The successful candidate for this position will have a background of building and managing an SRE practice and is an expert in one or more of the following: Enterprise Monitoring, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), infrastructure monitoring (ITIM), network monitoring (NPMD), and log monitoring.  The candidate will focus on written and customer-facing deliverables aimed at technical staff who face the challenges of monitoring traditional and cloud based resources.

The candidate ideally has experience in DevOps toolchain and monitoring tools such as Cherwell and ServiceNow, and/or experience in monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Datadog, Dynatrace, ExtraHop, LogicMonitor, New Relic, and Splunk, and cloud monitoring tool experience with AWS, Azure, Google and other cloud IaaS platforms.

What You Will Do:

  • Research, write, and publish analysis, aimed at a technical audience, on a regular cadence both individually and collaboratively

  • Provide insights to clients through 1:1 interaction, workshops, virtual presentations, and in-person stage presentations

  • Provide professional representation of Gartner’s brand, research, insights, and analysis to technical teams in Gartner’s client base

  • Actively shape the direction of Gartner research by participating in research communities and providing peer review

  • Apply personal experience and technical expertise to an array of clients, situations and industries

  • Communicate complex concepts concisely and with authority

  • Partner with sales and service delivery partners to increase growth, retention, and engagement

What You Will Need:

  • More than 5 years of experience in monitoring or a related field

  • Experience with SRE practice including SLO management, reliability, performance engineering and chaos engineering topics

  • Ideally more than 10 years + of experience in an enterprise IT environment

  • Experience with monitoring solutions operations and policies to drive proactive alerts and notification

  • Experience with monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Datadog, Dynatrace, ExtraHop, LogicMonitor, New Relic, Riverbed, Splunk

  • Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain concepts, vendor evaluations, and monitoring strategies to a technical audience

  • Experience working with technical architecture and implementation teams

  • Excellent writing ability; must be able to create detailed but easy-to-understand written research on a variety of monitoring topics

  • Robust public speaking, presentation creation and delivery – cogently leading executive level engagements in high profile enterprises
