About the role:

Are you interested in becoming a cloud engineer but aren’t certified nor have years of experience? Bring your software or DevOps engineering talent and passion to Gartner. We’re looking for someone who is curious, loves to learn, passionate about their craft and has a desire to transition their career into cloud engineering. We’ll give you an opportunity to learn cloud technologies, apply your skills as a cloud engineer and grow your career.

Our team is one of several teams in the Cloud Center of Excellence business unit. We architect and engineer cloud solutions; automating and streamlining IT infrastructure pipelines, workloads and processes using public cloud platforms and open-source technologies.

 

What you will do:

  • Work with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the Console, CLI and via automation.

  • Design, implement, maintain and automate deployments and infrastructure as code.

  • Build and maintain reusable pipelines for infrastructure deployments.

  • Collaborate with other engineers to support and improve processes, standards and tools.

  • Assist development teams in creating and understanding cloud based pipelines and processes.

  • Develop and maintain automated testing tools for our infrastructure as code libraries.

  • Write and maintain cloud governance policies to enhance security and operations.

  • Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant distributed systems.

  • Write and maintain clear, concise documentation and cloud infrastructure diagrams.

 

What you will need: 

  • College degree in computer science or similar discipline, or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years of experience as a software, DevOps, or similar engineering role.   

  • 3+ years of experience in two or more modern programming languages. 

  • 3+ years of experience in application development and/or configuration automation.   

  • Familiarity with containers, docker, Kubernetes and serverless functions.

  • Adept at learning and applying new technologies and solving new problems.

  • Experience with agile and other development processes and methodologies.

  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Bitbucket pipelines, Github Actions etc).

  • Continuous learning and improvement mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of immutable infrastructure and infrastructure as code concepts.

  • Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Windows system administration experience.

  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.   

  • In-depth knowledge with infrastructure provisioning tools (Terraform, AWS CDK, Azure Resource Manager).

  • Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, HashiCorp Packer).

  • Proficiencient at managing Git (Bitbucket, Github) projects and repositories.

  • Experience monitoring cloud and on-premise infrastructure and applications. 

  • Cloud Certified (AWS Developer, Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or other cloud professional certifications).
