UX Designer


About the role:

The UX Design Principal is a leader on the art direction team, responsible for ensuring the quality and efficacy of client-facing content through collaboration with UX/UI and web development, product, and content strategy partners. The UX Principal impels the client experience through creation of data visualizations, graphics, and layouts through applied UX principles that support and communicate our best practice, insight-driven research. As a member of the in-house design team, the UX Principal will work with internal partners to support the development of effective digital graphics, identify design problems, and drive internal partners towards solutions based on a user-centered design approach that meets strategic company goals.

What you will do:

  • Engage with stakeholders in IT and in web development and UX/UI roles to develop effective solutions for delivery of digital content to Gartner clients.
  • Influence the final product by steering analysts and researchers toward the best design option, through advocacy for UX and accessibility best practices, design principles, and how they drive business goals.
  • Analyze data collected on client engagement and identify additional data or research required to determine effectiveness of design solutions.
  • Create and direct design of graphics and web layouts that highlight important insights, clarify complex data, and create a narrative flow to maximize user impact.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while weighing the importance of specific jobs and prioritizing accordingly.
  • Meet with internal partners to discuss creative goals of projects, presenting design concepts and wireframes aimed at achieving optimal business outcomes.
  • Coach peers and educate internal partners, as needed.

What you will need:

  • Degree in a related discipline with 4+ years’ experience in UX/UI design solutions based in completely digital environments
  • Understanding of user-centered design (UCD), human computer interaction, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and the ability to collaborate with developers
  • Fluency with standard software and tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.) and proficiency with Adobe CC and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong visual design, interaction design, and user experience instincts; ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently
  • Expert knowledge of color, usability, layout, typography and design principles
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and influencing skills required to build consensus with business partners
