The MVP, Research Business Analytics (RBA), leads the business analytics and reporting function responsible for providing leaders with critical fact-based decisions through delivering data, analytic tools and insights to continuously improve the Research and Advisory (R&A) business both operationally and strategically.  The RBA team provides insight and thought partnership with senior R&A executive team across key strategic initiatives with focus on areas of highest business impact to help manage, advance and continuously adapting to changing business needs.  The MVP, RBA is responsible for leading and managing a global team of high-performing professionals to ensure high value and impact across all data deliverables to business stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Thought Leadership
    • Continuously expand the contribution of data & analytics to enhance R&A value delivery to our clients by analyzing quantitative and qualitative data sets
      • Client value analytics: understand current and future client behaviors, interests and needs so that we can cerate ever more relevant and valuable insights
      • Business analytics: help business leaders optimize resource allocation within their organization
      • Associate analytics: help leaders and individual contributors understand and continuously optimize their contribution to client value.
    • Partner with senior R&A leaders and team members to perform necessary framing, prioritization, work scoping, planning and project management for projects and strategic multi-year efforts (e.g., LRP projects, Content ROI, Annualized Individual Retention).
    • Continuously enhance understanding of client perspective, analytic technologies, and best practices as well as competitive trends.

  • RBA Functional Leadership
    • Deliver key capabilities through reporting and analytics, dashboards, self-serve analytics tools and the successful execution of complex projects while driving continuous improvement in the business analytic capabilities across Research & Advisory leadership and Gartner as a whole.
      • Deliver key capabilities through reporting and analytics, dashboards, self-serve analytics tools and successful execution of complex projects in partnership with key IT and PMO stakeholders.
      • Drive adoption of standard metrics and dashboards across R&A leadership.  In certain cases, provide Gartner wide leadership for R&A metrics that have broader applicability (i.e., Annual Individual Retention).
      • Increase team’s productivity, transparency and accountability for high quality R&A client, business, and associate productivity metric.
    • Drive the strategic evolution of current analytic capabilities while further expanding advanced analytic, data visualization and machine learning capabilities.

  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, motivate, develop, and coach team managers and senior level individual contributors (business data analysts, data scientists/modelers and forecasters).  Support the team in continuously building technical capabilities, business acumen, communication, and leadership skills to create improved, more impactful analytic solutions.
    • Build and lead an effective global team in line with our location strategy to support the growing business analytics and reporting requirements of the R&A organization.
    • Inspire team to manage the complete analytics lifecycle from initial problem-solving and hypothesis generation to small-scale test and pilots as well as, build-out, ongoing enhancement and support of large-scale dashboards and reporting tools.
    • Prioritize multiple competing time demands, balance workload across the team, manage a high-performance culture, and build breadth-and-depth as the team expands to support increasing business demands.
    • Provide leadership, business guidance and coaching to ensure business commitments are met.  Manage all aspects of Research Business Analytics inclusive of resources, budget & deliverables.

  • Business Partnership
    • Drive complex projects aligned to high priority business objectives working closely with partners across the business including IT, Finance, HR, Product Management, Events and Sales.
    • Partner with IT and PMO team to drive a complex portfolio of IT projects within the Business Intelligence domain. Providing the strategic vision for the portfolio and all its components and driving execution against that vision.
    • Build partnerships with other analytically oriented teams and stakeholders across Gartner to share best practices and develop joint solutions to common goals and opportunities.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years progressive business experience, preferably in a strategy, analytics or business consulting role, including 5+ years building and leading teams responsible for strategic analytics, executive reporting and the development and deployment of dashboards and self-serve analytic tools.
  • Results-oriented leader with excellent business vision and strategic thinking and a proven track record of solving complex problems, thinking creatively and successfully drawing the larger business story out of facts and data.
  • Strong knowledge of general business practices with a proven ability to establish trusted business relationships across business units, gain consensus and drive action from a large, diverse global set of constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in a fast-paced environment and to inspire rapid adoption of change in a complex matrixed organization with distributed virtual teams. Ability to prioritize & handle multiple requests concurrently and consistently deliver superior results in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling executive-level presentations. Excellent verbal & written communication skills with demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts and analyses in an accessible and compelling way.
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance and statistical principles and their application to data analysis, advanced analytics, modeling, and forecasting. Familiarity with relational databases and SQL coupled with facility with programming languages, statistical packages, and BI toolsets.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters and/or Doctoral degree strongly preferred. Degrees with a concentration in statistics, data science, operational research, finance, or economics preferred.
