Data Science Director, Gartner Research and Advisory, Stamford, CT or Arlington, VA
The Research Business Analytics (RBA) team is part of the Research & Advisory Strategy organization. We power fact-based decision making by providing data, insights and analytic tools to continuously improve our business – operationally and strategically. We are growing our team substantially and we are looking for a Data Science Director to help us evolve to the next level. This highly visible position involves applying advanced analytic techniques to discover insights, make predictions, and generate recommendations to propel mission critical business priorities. - Execute large scale, high impact Data Science projects with responsibility for developing, validating, socializing and maintaining data-driven analytics that provide business insights to increase operational efficiency and customer value.
Partner with business leaders, IT, Project Management and provide thought leadership to define, scope and deliver analytics solutions.
- Communicate technical proposals and results to business leaders.
- As needed, provide ad hoc modeling and analytical insights to inform strategic and operational initiatives.
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s and/or Doctoral degree preferred. Degrees with a concentration in statistics, data science, operational research, computer science or related field preferred. 10+ years business experience including analytics, data mining and/or predictive data modeling experience.
Experience with relational databases and SQL; Experience preparing and cleansing large data sets; Expertise using data visualization tools.
In-depth knowledge of statistical principles and their application in modeling and data analysis; Experience developing and applying both inferential and predicative models; Competency in one or more of the following programming languages: R, Python, SAS; Experience with multiple modeling techniques such as: Text Analytics, Time Series, Random Forests, Clustering, Neural Networks, Generalized Linear Models, Optimization, DOE, PCA.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment, prioritize & handle multiple requests concurrently and consistently deliver results in a timely fashion.
A commitment to technical skill-set continuous improvement.
Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
Experience working with Big Data techniques is a plus.
Experience with analytics platforms (KNIME, SAS E-Miner, Alteryx) is a plus.
Consulting experience interacting/collaborating with business teams is a plus.
