Director of Reporting & Analytics, Gartner Research
We are looking for a Director of Reporting and Analytics to lead our Reporting team. In this role you will own reporting architecture, BI tools and processes, and will interact with users, data vendors, developers and stakeholders to deliver analytical solutions. You should be versatile enough to manage a team of 3-5 developers and analysts, manage development tasks, talk budgets and high level planning, make high level architecture decisions, and sometimes get down to code to solve a particularly thorny issue. This is a crucial role that will establish new capability and practices for the team and is a great opportunity to apply your experience and grow in new directions.
Some initiatives you would be working on:
Onboarding new data sources into our reporting/processing pipelines
Rolling out Tableau in the company, evangelizing the product and our datasources, governing content creation by users
Migrating existing reporting queries into DBT codebase
Migration of reporting codebase from Postgres/Redshift to Snowflake
Integration with our data science team, how to expose examples and consume predictions for a variety of ML models
Provide thought leadership on modern analytics/BI stacks, tools and processes
Mentoring and managing a team of 3-5 developers
Scoping, estimating, data modeling and rollout of new features and datasets
Managing the software development process for reporting team: issue grooming, estimation, code reviews, testing, CI/CD pipelines
Managing ad-hoc user requests
What we’d like to see in you:
Experience leading reporting teams, owning analytical products
Expert in modern SQL, experience with Redshift and Snowflake, Postgres
Familiarity with ETL tools such as Airflow, Spark, DBT, and of course Python
Experience rolling out Tableau in a company, strong product knowledge, user training, managing content
Marketing domain knowledge is a huge plus
Comfortable around disparate data, various APIs, and pipeline processes
Comfortable with complexity and drive to make things simpler.
Ability to support product team on road mapping, planning, estimating
Experience with modern development practices: continuous integration, scrum or agile development, distributed version control systems, test-driven development, automated deployment and provisioning
Strong communication skills, team mentor

We practice code reviews, unit and integration testing, continuous integration and delivery, agile 2 week sprints, and take pride in seeing our work through from conception to deployment and to the next better iteration.
Primary data stores include S3, Postgres, Redshift, Athena, Snowflake, SQL is our lingua franca.
