Job Brief:

The Senior Manager, Public Relations (PR) and Social Media for Gartner Digital Markets will play a key role in developing the PR & social strategies designed to drive performance for Capterra, Software Advice and GetApp.  This is a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in an exciting, fast-growing business unit utilizing a proactive, data-driven approach. The role will be a core member of the global marketing organization and an integral part of the brand marketing team. The Senior Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of media relations campaigns and social media marketing activities that deliver against brand marketing goals and meet or exceed key performance indicators. The Senior Manager will partner with many internal stakeholders including content marketing, vendor marketing, reviews team, creative team and others to plan all PR & social related campaigns and prioritize based on goals, performance, and budget.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage in-house PR and social media teams, agency / freelance resources and oversee strategic initiatives related to digital and social strategy for the brands they support.

  • Strategically cultivate and maintain positive relationships with local and national media representatives, news outlets, and other external audience groups and work to promote news coverage and stories in all mediums (digital, print, radio).

  • Plan, prepare and relay information concerning the organization to media - driving awareness and understanding of our products and our value proposition.

  • Write, edit and distribute local and national press releases, as well as talking points and other collateral to support internal and external communications; develop various press materials, including press releases, talking points, briefing documents etc., in addition to global brand PR toolkits; work autonomously to author and drive digital/social strategy for key brand initiatives.

  • Manage relationships and outreach with PR colleagues, industry associations and annual events.

  • Oversee brand social media content creation and influencer programs; social media monitoring, promotions/contests and other activations; maintain Social Media Playbook and lead best practice trainings for team and others (where appropriate).

  • Execute reputation management efforts on behalf of brands when necessary and fully coordinate with corporate communication crisis management teams.

  • Create streamlined information for internal reports/audits/analysis of digital marketing performance and create compelling marketing and reporting presentations; partner with Analytics team on managing digital dashboard, KPI definition and alignment, and regularly report out performance and learnings to key stakeholders and executive team; monitor and report out on industry best practices and competitive/landscape trends.

  • Develop direct reports by identifying needs and partnering on developmental plans; model expectations for desired/required acceptable behavior, knowledge, and skill levels; reinforce an environment that supports feedback and ongoing development.

  • Support recruitment efforts and build relationships to attract top talent; model and coach others on making effective hiring decisions using available tools and processes.

  • Adjust team and own priorities when experiencing change or challenges; determine how change impacts stakeholders and communicate concerns to leadership.

  • Demonstrate active listening to ensure understanding.

What You Will Need:

  • 12+ years’ experience running successful public relations and social media campaigns on both small and large scales, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance.

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher, ideally in Communications, Marketing or related field.

  • Demonstrated experience with Social Media content, marketing, monitoring, and management and influencer programs, with deep understanding of how social content functions on various social media platforms (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) and how to optimize this content to generate the best results.

  • Strong pitch skills and the ability to place stories within consumer, trade and blog press, sophisticated knowledge of press relations, and the ability to leverage social media.

  • Ability to think big and propose innovative strategies to maximize reach and engagement.

  • Solid understanding of digital marketing trends and industry best practices.

  • Proven track record in pitching and placing stories, excellent writing skills, the ability to react quickly and meet constant deadlines.

  • Proven skill in working across multiple and distinct functional organizations (e.g., brand marketing, digital, global marketing, international) in support of specific business priorities.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, team-oriented, ability to work with a wide range of internal departments and ability to clearly communicate key objectives, milestones and deadlines to others.

  • Self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm with experience establishing effective relationships with internal and external partners.

  • Knowledge and passion for tech industry, preferred.
