What we are looking for:
Gartner Digital Markets’ brand Capterra ( is looking for an Engineering Lead to join our collaborative, Agile team. This position will include hands-on development and a close working relationship with our product owners and development teams to build out products for our clients and website using ReactJS and RESTful APIs built in Ruby on Rails. This role can be performed in eitherArlington, VA;Austin, TX; orBarcelona, Spain.

  • Responsible for system uptime and responding to events.

  • Providing mentorship, conducting year-end reviews, and coaching to other team members.

  • Tracking quarterly business priorities.

  • Providing technical oversight and pair programming with team members.

  • Directly communicating and interacting with internal stakeholders to meet business objectives.

  • Taking ownership of cross-team efficiency.

  • Participate and plan architecture for new technology initiatives.

  • Assist in defining architecture across the larger business unit.

  • Engage in production of code deployments, code reviews, and monitoring.

  • Develop high quality, innovative, flexible, and scalable technical solutions for the Capterra brand.

  • Design, develop, test and support critical applications and services using ReactJS, Ruby on Rails, and other languages and frameworks.

  • Follow SCRUM Agile Development methodology.

What you will bring to the team:

  • 6+ years in enterprise software engineering.

  • Managed a team of 5 or more engineers.

  • 4+ years’ experience with web development technologies and high-performance web applications (React, Ruby, Node, AWS, Ruby on Rails)

  • 4+years developing with relational databases.

  • 2+ years experience working with Ruby on Rails.

  • 2+ years experience developing with React.

  • Familiar with continuous integration (Jenkins).

  • Advanced knowledge of software development methods and best practices.

  • Experience as a technical lead for cross-team projects.

  • Lead 1 or more Scrum teams in an Agile environment.

  • A passion for engineering, learning, and teamwork is a must

Nice to haves, depending on the project:

  • API development experience.

  • Node.js experience.

  • AWS experience.

  • Knowledge of ElasticSearch.

  • Worked with Micro frontend applications.

  • Involvement with Page Speed Optimization. 

  • Exposure to Serverless computing.

  • Experience or familiarity with SEM, SEO, or Google AdWords.
