About this role

Senior Principal Researchers generate actionable business ideas and data-driven insights through our hypothesis-focused research. Senior Principals enjoy exposure to a full array of strategic thought work focused on peeling apart ideas in search of insight. They work closely with C-level executives to identify and produce research that solve complex business challenges on a global scale. This role will be part of the Supply Chain practice and will focus on developing insights and guidance for Chief Supply Chain Officers and senior supply chain executives, covering topics including supply chain leadership, strategy, functional governance, and talent management.

What you’ll do

  • Lead projects through Gartner's proprietary research methodology including hypothesis generation, conducting primary and secondary research, and root cause analysis to identify best-in-class solutions.

  • Work closely with C-level executives to identify and produce proactive research that solves complex business problems on a global scale, and identify their most pressing issues.

  • Conduct phone interviews with executives, academics, and industry experts to discover best practices.

  • Lead extensive secondary literature searches and elicit the highest quality insights for use in white papers, exclusive member webinars, and highly visible research studies.

  • Develop provocative and pragmatic ideas that fundamentally change the way supply chain executives manage the function, create strategies, and drive innovation to deliver business results.

What you’ll need

  • A Bachelor's degree required, and a Master’s/PhD in a social science preferred

  • 7+ years of experience conducting primary and secondary research utilizing qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity to process and understand information quickly, as well as diagnose issues to make actionable recommendations.

  • Experience converting qualitative and quantitative information into clear frameworks, narratives and visually compelling presentations for senior Gartner managers and clients.

  • Project management experience with the ability to lead, develop and mentor members on the Research team.
