Gartner’s audit practice, acquired as part of CEB, has been delivering insights and thought leadership to Chief Audit Executives for more than 15 years. The team works with more than 600 large organizations, spanning every major industry across the world. Our research helps clients address their unique challenges by relying on original research, benchmarks, and analysis delivered through an advisory model. The mission is to help internal audit departments provide more valuable assurance to senior executives and the Board in the face of rapid change across the organization and risk landscape, digital transformation of the business, and flat audit budgets. If you have extensive internal audit experience and looking to share your experiences with hundreds of clients (not just a single company), research and teach best practices and cutting edge trends, and generally help increase the value add and impact of the internal audit profession, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • ​Provide advice to senior audit leaders (usually the CAE, but also sometimes the head of IT Audit or professional practices lead). Focus is predominantly on large enterprises (company revenue or agency budget over $1 billion) with operations in multiple countries and regions. 
  • Research and represent the leading thinking and approaches in audit methodology and engagement execution, covering aspects such as:
    • Audit methodologies, including how they should vary to incorporate:
      • Data analytics and continuous auditing / monitoring
      • Automation / RPA
      • Artificial intelligence or machine learning
      • Business use of agile development
    • Information security and technology auditing (including auditing cloud, RPA, and digitalized business processes)
    • Audit management systems and other technology used by audit departments
  • Develop and extend advice and frameworks through written research
  • Create materials for and deliver both face-to-face and video-based presentations and discussions with clients
  • Help rapidly expand the expertise domain for a growing practice area
  • Ensure integrity of our research and maintain Gartner independence

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Broad-based audit experience. The ideal candidate will have a track record of innovation and impact in multiple audit leadership roles. Given this role serves multiple industries, experience across industries is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with GRC tools and other software regularly used by audit departments (such as TeamMate and ACL). 
  • Stellar writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-motivated manner but within a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communicator who is able to explain complex concepts both concisely and simply to senior executives
  • Strong willingness to challenge conventional norms and views; persistence and intellectual curiosity to evaluate leading approaches
  • Credibility to represent Gartner research methodology and strategies effectively at a senior level
  • This position will preferably be located in the Washington DC area, but potential to consider London, Chicago, San Francisco, or New York.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Masters preferred.  CPA, CIA, or CISA strongly preferred
  • Experience in company operations or finance
